Welcome to my web site. I began photography at a very early age with my father. He was a chemist who loved the processes in the wet darkroom, and I remember standing on a wooden box, watching the image emerge in the developer tray under the dim safe-light. I continued photographing, built my own darkroom, and worked with Zone System techniques for many years. However, life intervened and I found little time to photograph other than the occasional family snapshot.

Digital technology has brought me back to photography—back to creating images and giving me so many new tools to fuel that creativity.  I will always value my experience with film and the darkroom processes, but I cannot go back.  It has been an enjoyable learning process, but one that was informed by my earlier work with film. The digital cameras that I use now have technically surpassed the best cameras that I used in the past.

The work in my galleries represents a cross section of my interests in creating visual images.  Landscapes dominate the work, but I am also drawn to portraiture and hope to pursue it more in the future.
